Rebel XTi. I am more than satisfied with it - and with the ability to change lenses and add flashes, use remotes, etc., it is far more expandable than any pocket camera would ever be. Yes, you can buy an 8 megapixel pocket camera for $250-$300 now, but the optics are a joke compared to a dedicated SLR. There's a reason they are so big. That aside, my uncle has the original 6mp Digital Rebel from who knows how long ago - and he still takes it to Mongolia, Africa, Japan, etc. for all of his picture taking. He said he has no reason to upgrade. They are good cameras. Few point and shoot shots from Boston over Thanksgiving. Auto mode, walking, no tripod. .
